Product Description
Ultrasonic level sensor is using acoustic means Time-of-Flight measuring principle for detecting an object’s distance away from the sensor. Just like a bat, the sensor will generate waves, which at a frequency higher than humans can hear, from 20 kilohertz to one gigahertz. The acoustic wave pulse will hit the targetted object and create an echo reflected back to the sensor. The time taken for the wave to echo back to the sensor provides an estimation of a distance. Knowing that the speed of sound is constant (in an acoustic medium) the detected distance can be relatively consistent.
The material you want to measure with the ultrasonic level transmitter must have a certain density to reflect ultrasonic waves. Sound travels faster through the air than through solids and liquids, so a significant difference in density between the air and your product results in a good signal. It works in both fluids and solids. 
The ultrasonic level sensor has a blocking distance where it can’t read properly, so you must include that in your calculations.
